Thisis a chalk drawing I did on the wall of the math building at my college. A friend of mine and I got together and did this early in the morning. It took us about an hour and a half to two hours (neither of us happened to keep track). We split the bricks each into square sized blocks and then used the squares as pixels to redraw the art. Despite the lack of people in this photo, this is a rather high traffic are in my school.
We observed a large number of people laughing and pointing at Luigi as they walked by. Everyone enjoyed it a great deal. Almost anyone with a camera phone took a picture of it, and many posed next to him to get the picture taken. Nobody on campus knows who did it, and I think the mystery adds to the fun.
I'm glad we were able to bring such happiness to my classmates at UTA.
HA! It made me laugh too! That's a really novel idea, and I think it's too bad that it was slandered as a "painting" by the newpaper columnists. Painting it would have been defacing your beloved college, which you obviously didn't want to do. Because of their ignorance, who knows how many people have been wrongly informed about the work. The materials used are vital to the it's essence!!! (sorry, but misinformation and ignorance are a major pet peeve of mine )
Did you write a rebbutal to the newspaper demaning a correction to their demeaning comment!? I sure would have...
Either way, FLAWLESS execution on this, only made better by the fact that you finished it in complete anonymity!!
heh heh, thank you very much for all your compliments!
No, I never wrote in a complaint, but I had a friend that worked for the paper whom I told about it, and she talked to some people. It was never corrected, but the proper channels were let known of their mistake, which is all I really cared about
The anonimity was the best part of it, and one of the things I am really proud of. I think that's what gave it such a universal appeal. No one was taking credit for it, it was a gift for all to enjoy that way!

Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
